Sales pages, sales copy, landing pages, sales letters and squeeze pages are all completely different parts of a whole. They are all parts of your marketing and sale strategies. At the same time, you do not need all of them to be successful with your business. So, what is the difference between a sales page, sales copy, landing page, sales letter, and a squeeze page? What Is A Sales Letter? Let’s start here. The sales letter has been around since the beginning of marketing… since you could send letters in the mail. In its simplest form, it is a letter that speaks about your product or service and tries to convince someone it will help them and to buy it. The Sales Letter can be one page or more or a packet you send through the mail. I am sure you have received them if you live in the United States. They can be an effective way to reach the people interested in what you have to offer. You can read my brief overview of how to write one for your business. What Is A Sales Page?
Similar to a sales letter it is trying to show you how the product or service will help solve your problem. They can be short or long. Often they are long to include many items that will show you and prove to you how fantastic the item is. And, how happy you will be that you bought it! A Sales Page is online. Often a sales page will show up when you click on an online Ad or a link talking about the problem or offer. The sales page might include the cost of the item you are considering buying. Coaches and course providers often use these to try and sell their products online. What Is A Landing Page A web page online, the landing page is something that presents a place for your prospect to sign up and get something in exchange for their email address. You have probably seen these as well. Often, you will click on an offer for something free and it will take you to a landing page. Like this. You can offer what is called a lead magnet, a free item, and people will sign up with their email address. The next page called the offer page, download page, or thank you page will give you the freebie. Or it can just come to you in your email as well. What Is A Squeeze Page? Similar to a landing page, it’s kind of a combination of that page and a sales page. A Squeeze page has a lot less copy than a sales page but is still geared to capture your email address with something you find enticing. Some people say a Landing Page could be longer, not followed by a thank you page, a stand-alone page, and other intricacies. But, I think a squeeze page and a landing page are pretty similar. What Is Sales Copy? Sales copy is the words written on all of these pages. You will see sales copy in other areas of your marketing as well, like on your website or in your email funnel. This kind of copy is written in a way that is doing just what it says it’s doing… selling. The copy or words are written in a way to be convincing, persuasive, and informative. They can also be educational and/or entertaining. Sales copy is geared to grab the prospect's attention and draw them in. It can be written in a variety of ways. One way that I like best, is to talk about a pain point of the prospect that you want to help solve. For example: “Does your driveway look terrible? Are you tired of it and ready to tear it out? We have a fantastic product that you can easily apply to revive your spirits! No need to bring in heavy equipment and replace your expensive concrete driveway. We have an easier, quicker way!” Now, I want that product! I have a crummy driveway and we talk about it at my house all the time. I don’t want to replace it. And, who doesn’t love a fantastic repair that’s fast and easy? (If you know of one, please, send it my way.) What Is The Difference Between A Sales Page, Sales Copy, Landing Page, Sales Letter, And A Squeeze Page? You can see there are a variety of items to use to market and try to sell to your target market. (That’s a mouthful) But, you see there are many options here. You do not need to use them all. Pick one and start there. It’s an art to write good copy. It’s a skill that can be developed and refined over time with practice, education and training.
