First, I think it’s important to define “What is content marketing in the first place?” Content marketing is something businesses large and small can use to get the word out about their business. Content is what they use in order to talk about their business.

Marketing content can come in many forms. Here are a few that small and large businesses alike can use:

• Written content in your blog, on social media, in a publication.
• Video content on a designated platform like YouTube or LinkedIn.
• Audio content in something like a podcast.

It really depends on the person or business. It comes down to what you are comfortable doing and what skills you have to create content.

As a content creator, I enjoy creating content. I like writing as well as making videos. I am skilled in these areas. My skills also lie in the end production portion of content creation.

If you struggle with just the creation portion of making content, you might find content marketing hard. If you dislike editing the content you make, you might find content marketing hard. If you have a tough time finding time, you might find content marketing hard, too. If you are uncomfortable talking about your business or any combination of these things, you can really struggle with making content for your business.

Ways To Make Content Marketing Easy

If you enjoy making content for your business and you already know how important it is to get the word out about your business you probably don’t need a lot of encouragement to make your content.

1. Creating a marketing strategy and calendar for your plans might be all you need to get moving and do well.
2. If you struggle with creating marketing content for your business for whatever reason, you must first understand how important the content is. Accepting how helpful it can be for your business will be the WHY you do it. Realize that if no one knows about your business and what you do then people will not be able to reach out to you or hire you.
3. Recognizing how valuable the content is is your first step to making content creation easier. Now you know - you must work through it and do it even if it’s not easy for you. As you do it, it should get easier!
4. Putting together the same strategy and calendar for your marketing as we spoke of above will make it much easier to stay on track. Add a checklist and you can work off of that every day, month, or year. Having a plan and working the plan can make things go smoother with less scramble and apprehension.
5. Choosing a small area to focus on can greatly help you make content for your business. If you feel you need to share your content everywhere, you might just freeze up from overload. Choose just a couple of places to share your content and repeat that for a long time. You can build up some traction, confidence, and skill before you add in another location.
6. Now, with your plan and checklist in hand, you can head out and make some content. Whether you start with a blog and share that content on LinkedIn like I do, or you make videos on TikTok, stay consistent. This might be the hardest part of content marketing. Staying consistent will often be interfered with. Other work in your business will try to take your time. Personal obligations will tell you it’s more important. If you can work on your consistency, and stick with your schedule, you will be much better off with your content marketing!

So, is content marketing hard? It certainly can be. If you struggle with making content for your business, work at the ways to make it as easy as you can. Understanding first how important the content is. If you don’t have any content, how can you share it? Just get going and make your marketing content!

If content creation is difficult for you try to find ways to make it fun. Video might be more fun for you. Give it a try for a period of time to see how you do.

In the end, if you can’t find the time or interest to make content for your business hire someone that can. If you find it hard to fit this into your budget in the beginning, ask for a set of content items. Can I get 4 blog articles for my business and 24 social media posts?
