SO...... VOIYOO. VOIYOO? WHO? WHAT?
How the heck do you pronounce that?
It means YOU plural - in Italian
You pronounce it like "Boy": Voy
YOU in English - phonetically: You
[yoo; unstressed yoo, yuh]
It's a play on words!
When you are coming up with a name for your business in this modern day, it's not easy. The process for naming your business has certainly changed.
Years ago a lot of people would base their name on how it would appear in the Yellow Pages... what ever the heck those are. Ha! The listings were alphabetical. AAA Marketing would come at the beginning.
I've had a number of businesses and it's never been so tough to come up with a name. A couple of times I just used my name. And, once I used my street name that I lived on. But, now, so many names and words are just taken.
You really need to review Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and Web URL's before you can narrow it down. And, a lot of times names are taken and being parked in order to sell them later. Or they are just sitting there abandoned. It's weird really. Those names are just in a waste land when someone else could be using them nicely.
And, if you're mostly a local type of business, like Home Service Professionals tend to be, you still have to search the globe. Because when people come looking for you online, like they do, you don't want to get lost or compete with the other "Acme Painting" Biz.

Italian Plural You and Playing Around With English You
SO MUCH RESEARCH
So, how in the heck to you come up with a business name these days?
I'll tell ya I went through a lot of research before I came up with VOIYOO. It was this or Purple Sock Drawer Marketing. Yep, not kidding. And, if you're thinking Purple Sock Drawer is awesome... grab it now. Cuz it might be gone by the time you're done reading this article.
I did consider YouYouSocial, Or Focus Social. Loved both of these. Gone.
I spent a good bit of time doing the research and thinking about how Google game up with that silly name? Or Yahoo. Amazon. Twitter??
Thinking: "I can certainly be more loose with what I call my business."
And, that's when I started to get a little more creative. A little more playful even. And, I ventured into different languages for fun. Why not incorporate... well... really whatever I could piece together to make a name already!!
(I wanted to spend time working, not researching a business name.)
This alone could probably be an add on specialty for a marketing business.
"Let me help you name your business"!
Still messing around. And, now remember, I had 2 other business names that I really liked: YouYou Social and Focus Marketing. And, when I started to play around more I thought, hmmm.... I really like YouYou Social. Because that's what this biz is all about right? You. My customer. Your client. Your audience. You!
You are who I want to help.
You and your clients are the people that matter!
You are the reason we are all here.
You are the ones we want to serve.
You are important!
What if I messed around some more and did more of a play on words? And, I found the Italian plural version of you is Voi and I meshed that with the American phonetic version of You.
Yes, I think that could work. YouYou right? And, so, there you have it! Voi Yoo!
I think it's still growing on me more every time I say it.
It's not just Jennifer's Marketing. It's not Golden Marketing or Florida Marketing Services. It's unique. It's unusual. It's even interesting! Hell, my business name has it's own story!!
And, now I love Voiyoo....
WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR BUSINESS?
So, I was happy with my fun new business name.
Then you start telling people who you are and the great offers you have to make their lives easier.
And, you get back... "How do you pronounce your name?" and "What does that mean?"
Then you think, well...maybe I should make it more.... simple?? (insert "blah" here)
Maybe 1 year in I should change everything!! My... everything. Banners, biz cards, omg website and social media platforms.
Then I did a little research... again with the research! And came across this:

After reading this, I decided to stick with Voiyoo. Whew! And, I started to think it was pretty cool even. Which is just dorky in itself, right? But, who cares. I moved on and now I enjoy my business name.
And, I enjoy telling people the story of how I named my business. And, I think they enjoy hearing it.... as long as I make it quick!
It helps keep me in people's minds... At least until the end of the conversation or networking meeting! 😄
