What Are Examples Of Inbound and Outbound Marketing?

4/11/2022

Inbound and outbound marketing can be great for many businesses. They are different ways of getting your message out and they can work in different ways.

Often using both in conjunction with the other, you can generate leads for your business. Using just one, however, might not bring you the results you are looking for.

And, it’s often best to try options for your business and see what works best.
Inbound and Outbound Marketing
Outbound Marketing Examples

First of all, what is outbound marketing? Outbound marketing is more of a shotgun way of marketing to your community and the world. You will put out something that is more of a cold outreach type of marketing.

Outbound marketing is going to be something your business puts out there in hopes that people will reach out to you for what you have to offer when they are ready for your service. It can also be a way of just getting the message out that you are a business that can help people looking for things.
  1. TV Ads
  2. Radio Ads
  3. Mailers and Postcards
  4. Cold Sales Letters
  5. Cold Email
  6. Billboards
This is just a small example of ways you can outbound market to the world. But, you probably get where I’m going with this. You are sending your info out there to attract attention and make people aware that you are here.

It can take a lot of time to reach people this way. Just think about it from your perspective. You drive down the road, you see a billboard. “Oh, them.” You aren’t buying directly from that billboard. But, if you need what they have to offer sometime in the future, you might remember them and reach out to them.

Outbound marketing is a great way to get your message and your brand out into the community. It can be helpful to local-type businesses because of the placement of your copy and ads.

I send out Sales Letters to people in my community. “Hey! I am here if you need some copywriting or content creation for your business.” OR “When you are ready to move away from doing your own content or copywriting, I am here, right in your own community, and ready to help out!” You can see how this works.

Sometimes I hit people at the end of their buying cycle. They have been thinking about having someone help them in this area for a while and here is someone. They are right here in my town, let’s reach out. And, then I get a call or email.

They might even go over to my website and make sure what I have to say in the promo material is who I am and I can actually do what I say I can.

You can see how this can be a long game. But, you have probably been on the customer end and see why it works this way. Do you buy instantly from a postcard mailer? Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. Do you keep postcards from people you might want to work with in the future?

So, that sums up outbound marketing and how it can benefit your business. We also talked about expectations. It can be a great option for your business, but never expect this type of marketing to be something it isn’t.

You might also think of this as the top of your marketing funnel. You are making people aware of your brand and what you offer.

What Is Inbound Marketing?

Now we can talk about inbound marketing and how it can work for your business.

Inbound marketing can also give your brand more awareness of course, but it is going to be something people find softer. More gentle, I guess I’d say. Inbound marketing will be more engaging for your prospects and it will be something they more often seek out on their own - whether they know about you or not. Often, inbound marketing is more educational or entertaining.

It can appeal to your audience and target market and draw them into what you are talking about. You will probably create more interest in this way after you have created awareness. And, share what you have to offer and how it can help your prospects.

Some people call this the second stage of the sales funnel and some say it’s in the first. I find it can really be both. It can help raise awareness for your brand and it can also be a way to connect with them after they are interested.

Inbound marketing is one of my favorite ways to market my business. Even if outbound is also effective for me.

Inbound Marketing Examples:
  1. Blogging On Your Website
  2. Social Media Content and Marketing
  3. Lead Magnets
  4. Video Content On Business Website, Search, and Social Media
  5. Email Marketing
  6. SEO
  7. Other Search Like YouTube, Pinterest, Quora

Inbound marketing is now one of the lead ways to educate your prospects and help draw them to your brand in particular. If you can make them aware of who you are and how well you can help them, they will get aware, interested, and start to consider you as the solver of their problem!

Is Inbound Marketing Important?

In this day and age, yes. Inbound marketing creates a nice connection from being aware that you are in business to yes, we are competent and can get you results. It can actually bring you leads for your business as well. Yes, it can.

You have so many great options to turn interested people into customers now. With inbound marketing, you can now tell them how you can help them. Show them how you can help them. And share with them who you have already helped. (plus a whole lot more)

Some inbound marketing you can even track and see how well it’s working for you and if you should make changes to make it more appealing or helpful.

Outbound marketing doesn't allow for a lot of that. A little if you use codes. And, coupons could be tracked.

Inbound marketing is a must for most businesses.

Inbound And Outbound Marketing

You can see how both of these marketing strategies can help your business build more leads and have more success in your industry. And, you see that I do a handful of both types of marketing.
Have you tried both areas for your business?
