Business tools used to be actual physical products like pens, paper, books, wrenches, screwdrivers, saws, typewriters, etc. As we moved into more computer usage many digital and virtual software platforms were also called tools. I thought you might like to see my essential tools for online business.
Overall marketing your business is basically promoting your business to the right people on a regular business. How do you do that? How do I market my business effectively?
Driving traffic to your website is a popular topic for businesses.
You have a lot of options. Here are a handful of options. You can start small and grow each as you see fit. Start with one, just like you did with any social media marketing, and grow it from where you are.
There really isn’t one answer when it comes to marketing for your business. When you start your marketing plan you can start with some basics for a period of time and see how it goes with your numbers and the best marketing methods for your business.
If you get good results with the marketing you initiate you can either expand on what you are already doing or you can add in other areas like paid advertising. Best Marketing Methods for Your Business It’s often best to start with what you know. Say that’s Facebook - or pick your favorite area. If you find posting there for a period of months is getting more business in your door, adding in even more to this strategy can expand your client base. Or you can start adding in live video or creating a group on Facebook to help expand your reach. You could also venture off to other social media platforms. You could start blogging and sharing that. LinkedIn is a helpful platform for certain businesses. It’s not exactly for everyone or every business. It’s a place to try out and examine. What LinkedIn isn’t is a place to show a lot of personal stuff. People on this platform are there to talk about business. A tiny bit here and there of your life behind the scenes is great, but otherwise, stick to the work at hand. And, this is how we want to get into how to use LinkedIn effectively for business. How to use LinkedIn Effectively for Business1. First make sure you have optimized your LinkedIn Presence. When people come looking for you you want to make sure you look like you know what you’re doing right. And, sometimes that can take an expert to give you some tips. Just filling in all the boxes might not be filling in the boxes well. You want to appeal to the people you want to appeal to. You aren’t trying to grow a following of peers exactly. You want to appeal to the people you want to serve… your clientele
2. You want to be active. So once you are set up and ready to go with your accounts - use the account. Leaving it stagnant really gives off that feel. You aren’t active here and they people will move on. This is a tough process. I think for everyone. If you get a lot of distractions to your day, it’s hard to stay focused and be productive. Getting things accomplished at work when someone is always coming into your office space, or interrupting your focus, getting back to busy can take your brain time to reconfigure.
If it becomes a habit, you will probably figure it out. Because you have to and because you just get used to working in a busy environment. You adjust and get back to it faster and you just start to tune out the annoyances. But, when you aren’t used to that. And, your job requires a lot of focus, what do you do? My story starts from home. I run my writing and content creation business from home. This career and business requires me to write a lot and generally tune out from the world and really live with my head in the computer. And, in the work itself. If I am interrupted I need to refocus on the interruption and then back again doing the same to return to the job at hand. Back and forth, back and forth. So, let's talk about how to overcome distractions. Spending money in your business can be a personal decision. What to spend it on is also a strategic one. How much should be delegated for what can be a crapshoot. It can be confusing and difficult to decipher what to spend your business money on.
Marketing is one of the areas you might be wondering about. “How the heck do I know how much to spend in this area?” And, “I didn’t even know there was any thought on the subject of marketing budgets!” So, we are going to talk about it today. Because yes, putting a budget to the specific areas of your business can help delineate your cash flow and decipher the best places to direct your funds towards. What am I saying? Decide how much is appropriate to spend on your business marketing. Decide how you’re going to decide how much you should spend on your marketing. LOL! First, if you don’t know how to pronounce Voiyoo or what the heck a Voiyoo is - check out my article about it. It’s not easy to pick a business name anymore and I had to be creative!
Just pay attention to the ads on TV and the stuff they are coming up with now. The Zebra? For car insurance? The next business looking for a name will need to add an adjective to that. Polka Dot Zebra? Green Zebra? Have you noticed this, too? But, I like the name I chose and it has a nice back story. Let me know what you think. Who The Heck Is Jennifer Ressmann with Voiyoo Business Writing Anyway? Do you even know who I am? My name is Jennifer Ressmann and I am a Floridian and a Coloradan. One of my favorite parts of my life is that I get to go back and forth to 2 of my favorite states in the US throughout the year. They are both just gorgeous parts of the country and I really encourage you to visit them both... as often as you can! I love popcorn, watermelon and all fruit. I love hiking, boating and spending time with my husband and the Murph, our happy, smart, friendly border collie. I hate the cold. I love love hot weather. When it comes to work, I love to work with people that understand how important blogging and content can be for their business. When business owners and managers are looking for someone to create their blog content remotely they can turn to me - I love to write for them! Sometimes, ya gotta be bold. Ya gotta make a change in your business because the way it’s going isn’t really working. You might have had a business for a while and need to change what your business does for a number of reasons.
1. It’s not selling enough 2. It’s complicated and difficult to manage 3. It’s awful, stressful, and down-right crummy. There are many reasons you might want to change up what your business does. And, honestly, if you are feeling bad...stop. If it’s not working, just change it. Life is too short to hang on to something that’s not working. And, life is too short to carry any guilt around about your business change with you. Making any sort of big change is going to be hard enough. So let it go! And make the change you need. CAN I CHANGE WHAT MY BUSINESS DOES? You know, things don’t always work out, but staying with the old way will just hold you back. If you decide to change it up that’s a good thing. You are noticing you need to do things in a new way. For me I am being bold by adjusting my business structure and what I offer. Building a brand for your business can mean so many things. One thing for sure, being consistent with your brand across your platforms and with your message is a good way to develop it. When you build a business you want to stand out and be recognizable. When someone sees something great that you are attached to like a website or an article, you want them to quickly comprehend that it’s from you. You want them to quickly relate your branding with that content.
Another way of putting it is everything looks the same across the board when you are online or off. Your logo is consistently the same, you are always represented by the same select grouping of colors and type styles. The shapes you choose for any graphics or designs should also tie into your branding look. When you pop up online your brand should be consistent and cohesive across the board. BRANDING AS YOUR MESSAGE Other areas where branding can come into play for your business is with your mission and your message to your community. Are you the discount painting service in your location? If you have chosen to make this the message for your brand then you need to talk about this as a benefit to using your group. If this is something you want to be known for then you need to communicate this with the public. Incorporating it into your marketing and tag lines is a great place to start. |
